Basic Review: The Twits by Roald Dahl

The Twits is an ok book, but not one of my favorites. In this book the Twits are  an ugly and mean couple who only really seem to enjoy playing mean jokes on each other. Mr. Twit also owns some monkeys that he likes to force to stand on their heads. One day the monkeys befriend a huge bird and with the help of all the birds play a mean trick on the Twits in retaliation before escaping forever.

In the introduction Roald Dahl makes a comment along the lines of that no matter what someone physically looks like they will always be beautiful if the are a good person. The opposite  is also true where horrible people like the Twits will always be ugly no matter what they look like because of how they act. Younger children may need this concept of "its what's on the inside that counts" explained to them so that they don't take it literal and think that all those who look good are automatically good and vise versa.

I only am giving this book a 2 out of 5 because it was repetitive and not the greatest if truth be told. I still would recommend the Roald Dahl enthusiast to read this book at least once.
