  The introduction of this book states that it is a great book to read aloud and it is correct. It is a silly and wonderfully fun adventure that I greatly enjoyed reading to my children at bedtime.  A young boy walking past a building that was once a candy shop notices that it has been sold to a window cleaning company. Only this company is ran by an unique crew. Upon befriending the crew the boy goes with them on their first window cleaning job, which turns out to be much more than any of them expected. 

  The Witches by Roald Dahl, like all of his books is a classic. While some children may find it a bit on the scary side depending on their age and mentality I read it to my toddlers recently and they did just fine. This is a story of a young boy who goes to live with his grandmother after his parents sadly die. He was already close to his grandmother so the transition was not too hard on him. She always told him stories of witches, how they hate children and want to destroy them and also how to identify them, but he doesn't believe they are real. One day he goes on a vacation with his grandmother to a hotel and discovered it is also the location of the secret yearly meeting of witches. Upon this accidental discovery the boy spies on them and learns of their evil plan. Now it is up to him with the help of his grandmother to put a stop to the evil witches. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 or 5 out of 5 and highly recommend it.

The Twits is an ok book, but not one of my favorites. In this book the Twits are  an ugly and mean couple who only really seem to enjoy playing mean jokes on each other. Mr. Twit also owns some monkeys that he likes to force to stand on their heads. One day the monkeys befriend a huge bird and with the help of all the birds play a mean trick on the Twits in retaliation before escaping forever. In the introduction Roald Dahl makes a comment along the lines of that no matter what someone physically looks like they will always be beautiful if the are a good person. The opposite  is also true where horrible people like the Twits will always be ugly no matter what they look like because of how they act. Younger children may need this concept of "its what's on the inside that counts" explained to them so that they don't take it literal and think that all those who look good are automatically good and vise versa. I only am giving this book a 2 out of 5 because it was repetit

 So I have been reading a lot of Roald Dahl's books to my two toddlers at home here recently and as such have a bunch of short reviews of his books. For those of you that don't know Roald Dahl is the beloved classic author of books such as The Witches (which has a new remake on Netflix here recently though I haven't watched it yet) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Little did I know that September 13th is Roald Dahl Day. YAY!  In celebration of Roald Dahl Day I will be posting a new Roald Dahl book review every day for the next five days starting Saturday. Welcome to Nightlight Reader Reviews. Many of you who are reading this may have already been reading my original blog, Night Reader Reviews and I thank you for transitioning to my new blog as well. Night Reader Reviews is still active but I am changing it to focus on adult books, Nightlight Reader Reviews is going to focus more on children's books.
